Next Global Boycott P&G Day - May 17th 2008

P and G Boycott Day

What is Global Boycott P&G Day?

Global Boycott P&G Day – usually the third Saturday in May - is the annual centrepiece of a growing international movement against P&G’s cruel and unnecessary animal testing, spearheaded by Uncaged. This Day represents a fantastic opportunity to draw consumers’ attention to the hidden suffering behind P&G’s famous brands and encourage cruelty-free shopping as an essential way of defending animals from cruelty.

This year saw the 11th Day of Action against P&G. There was participation in more countries than ever before, with over 140 events taking place across the UK, Ireland, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Luxembourg, Malta, Sweden, Croatia, Slovenia (pictured), Russia, India, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Venezuela, Peru, South Africa, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong.

2006 marked the tenth anniversary of Global Boycott P&G Day, so Uncaged embarked on a series of sensational publicity events. We projected the stark message – ‘Procter & Gamble Test on Animals’ - in 15ft high letters across the world-famous, iconic 'Angel of the North' sculpture on Tyneside near the company's 'Global Business Services Centre'. The massive slogan was unmissable for miles around.

Please join in solidarity with thousands of people around the world and help spread the word on Global Boycott P&G Day on Saturday 19th May 2007.

Join the campaign!

The next Global Boycott P&G Day will be Saturday 17th May 2008. But don't wait until then to get active - this is a constant campaign of pressure on P&G!

This compassionate campaign has the potential to have a massive impact. The vast majority of people are against P&G’s animal tests and are prepared to boycott unethical companies if given the relevant information. This is where we need your help – to seize a great opportunity to save defenceless animals.

There are lots of ways to get involved and help – from donating and writing letters, to organising protests and information events. We’ve even produced downloadable leaflets, posters and petitions in several different languages!

  • Show the world you care - submit your boycott pledge, photo and message to the website here - submit a pledge
  • Protest outside a supermarket or IAMS outlet – a vital way of targeting the message directly at the crucial ‘point-of-sale’ (P&G spend a fortune on ‘P-O-S’ marketing, so this will really annoy them).
  • Leave trolleys stacked with P&G products and decorated with Boycott P&G leaflets & posters around the store, to be found by shoppers & staff.
  • Protest outside a P&G facility - a protest with lots of banners, posters and animal costumes (eg. “giant rabbits seek revenge…”) gets the message directly to P&G and – if you send a press release out – is likely to be reported by your local TV, radio or print news – raising awareness among hundreds of thousands of people.
  • Town centre campaign stalls/protests - a tried-and-tested method of reaching hundreds of concerned citizens with our cruelty-free message.
  • Stunts & street theatre - lots of different stunts have been staged for Global Boycott P&G Day - you are only limited by your imagination!  Browse the reports of previous P&G Days examples.
  • Displays - in your local library, workplace/school/college or in your front window/on garage door etc.
  • Letter writing – write to national and local newspaper letters pages and online forums about P&Gs animal testing and the Day of Action.
  • Promote the Day of Action on your website, in your blog and in your emails.
  • Make a vital donation (minimum £5) to help Uncaged defend animals and we will send you a copy of the 80 page Compassionate Shopping Guide – containing vital information about who’s cruelty free and who’s not (UK only). Donations can be made by credit card securely online here, by phone (0114 272 2220) or by sending a cheque payable to ‘Uncaged Campaigns’ to us at 9 Bailey Lane, Sheffield, S1 4EG.
